¶ Silence Power Supply
The powersupply in the AnkerMake M5 runs continuously and has a loud fan.
To silence the power supply, there are 2 options
- Replace the power supply (recommended)
- Replace the fan (very dangerous, not recommended)

¶ Replacement
Purchase a 24v 14.6 Amp powersupply with a 'smart' or thermally controlled fan. The stock powersupply dimensions are 215 x 30 x 115 mm.
Avoid no-name brands from ebay, and stick to reputable companies like Mean Well

¶ Steps
- Unplug printer and remove bottom plate according to this anker documentation
- Ensure no LEDs are illuminated indicating redisual power in system
- Remove old power supply
- Set the new power supply voltage to the voltage used in your country using the red switch labeled
115/240volts. (Failing to do this step properly can damange your printer!) Note that in the US 115V is correct for what people commonly refer to as 110V or 120V.
- Connect the Ground (marked ⏚ on the power supply), L and N lugs, but DO NOT connect the V+ and V- lugs yet! We will verify the output voltage first.
- Carefully plug in the power and verify the output is 24 volts by using a multimeter as follows. Set your meter to read DC voltage. If your meter is not autoranging you will need to set it to the appropriate range which is inclusive of 24V. Connecting the multimeter's black lead (Common) to the V- terminal on the power supply and the red lead (DC V) to the V+ terminal on the power supply, your meter should read 24V. If the reading isn't 24 volts, turn the potentiometer on the power supply until the voltage reads exactly 24V.
- Unplug power and wait for electricity to discharge
- Connect
V+andV-lugs - If the new power supply doesn't come with a plastic cover over the terminals, use electrical or kapton tape to create a safety barrier to prevent accidential contact or short circuits.

The printer will consume >
350watts while heating. Do not attempt to use a power supply rated for less than 350 watts. -
Use a power supply exactly
215 x 30 x 115 mmotherwise the bottom case will not close. Many of the power supplies on ebay are thicker at about50mm. -
There are other solutions for quieting a powersupply, however they come with potentially life threatening risks. Capacitors can hold charge for a long time and can shock you. Never open a power supply unless you understand the risks.
